老年羊羔瘋發(fā)作以全身強(qiáng)直、一陣痙攣性發(fā)作占多數(shù)(52.6%)。局限性發(fā)作合并強(qiáng)直、陣痙攣者也不少(28.1%)，羊羔瘋持續(xù)狀態(tài)(11.4%)和精神運(yùn)動(dòng)性發(fā)作(7.9%)均可見(jiàn)到。老年人晚發(fā)性羊羔瘋發(fā)作期腦電圖多表現(xiàn)慢波異常，發(fā)作性癇樣放電較青少年組少見(jiàn)。老年人羊羔瘋危險(xiǎn)性更大，尤其大發(fā)作和羊羔瘋持續(xù)狀態(tài)會(huì)加重腦出血、腦缺血、缺氧和腦水腫，誘發(fā)心、肺、腎等并發(fā)癥或使原來(lái)病情加重，老年人骨質(zhì)疏松，更易發(fā)生跌傷骨折等，所以老人羊羔瘋更應(yīng)加強(qiáng)監(jiān)護(hù)。
