2、先天因素:很多癲癇在青少年兒童人群中高發,癲癇病始于幼年者,與先天因素密切相關.先天因素有兩方面:一是胎兒因母體受驚恐,使母體及胎兒氣機逆亂,肝腎受損,二是父母稟賦不足,或父母本患癲癇,導致胎兒精氣不足,影響胎兒發育.出生后易生痰生風,導致癲癇發作.

3、獲得性因素:由獲得性因素引起腦結構異常或代謝異常可產生致癇灶或降低驚厥閾值.病變可以是限局性或彌漫性,靜止性或進行性.這類癲癇稱為癥狀性癲癇.在癥狀性癲癇中,遺傳因素也可能起重要作用,在小兒時期尤其如此.

4、癲癇病的病因主要有外傷:顱腦產傷,挫傷,出血、缺血能導致局部腦組織軟化,日后形成癲癇灶.成人閉合性腦外傷,約有5%發生癲癇,重癥及開放性腦外傷,發生的癲癇更多,可達30%左右.

5、中毒:鉛,汞,一氧化碳中毒,以及全身性疾病,如肝性腦病,高血壓綜合癥,急性腎炎,尿毒癥等,均可發生癲癇.
