羊癇風發作與腦電圖異常大多在15歲前自行緩解，語言的恢復不能預料，有報道5歲前發病者語言恢復較難。本型對藥物治療效果不能肯定。

1.病因：本病的病因尚未明確。有研究認為本病的重要病理基礎可能與腦內神經元突出形成異常有關。失語的發生機制也沒有完全闡明，個別病例的失語可能與一側或雙側顳葉的病變有關。大多數病例無器質性疾病變，有些病例發現有血管畸形、顱內寄生蟲感染、腦炎等病變。

2.臨床表現：發病年齡在18個月～13歲，約90%在2～8歲起病。男性發病略高于女性。大多數沒有明確的家族史。發病前患兒語言功能正常。失語表現為能聽到別人說話的聲音，但不能理解語言的意義，如無法理解家長所說的話，而被認為不聽話或聽力有問題。
