需要注意的是，疾病善于隱匿，但是病人發病前也不是沒有先兆的。如有的嬰幼兒會莫名其妙地哭或者笑，有的會無緣無故地點頭、擠眼、轉頭，有不少家長以為孩子是在“做鬼臉”，其實有可能是早期兒童癲癇的癥狀;有的兒童在平坦道路上行走時突然摔倒，吃飯時突然將碗掉到地上，也有可能是早期兒童癲癇的癥狀;有的則會出現幻嗅、幻聽癥狀，如在清新環境中聞到燒橡膠、糞便等難聞氣味，在安靜室內聽到隆隆聲、蟬鳴聲或噴氣聲等，都有可能是早期兒童癲癇的癥狀。
