癲癇外科手術，對顱腦疾病如腦腫瘤、血管畸形、腦先天性皮質發育不良等癥狀性癲癇和難治性癲癇、以及顳葉癲癇人，手術治療可達到癲癇不發作和緩解癲癇性精神障礙的效果。

臨床上約有20%～30%為藥物難治性癲癇，外科手術治療為這一部分患者提供了治療手段，癲癇病能治愈嗎?估計約有50%的藥物難治性癲癇患者可通過手術使發作得到控制或治愈。
