癲癇小發作發作頻繁，除了有癲癇自身特點之外。也有一些發作確有誘發因素存在。這種誘發因素可能周期性出現，如發作可與內分泌因素或月經有關，另一些誘發因素則系不規則發生。癲癇病發作因可以是正常生活中的自然性感覺性刺激，也可能是突然出現的刺激，或由病兒自己誘導的刺激。

因為癲癇這種疾病的特殊性，癲癇患者在治療外，平時還需要注意很多方面。像是生活中在飲食方面，癲癇患者有很多東西是需要少吃或不吃的，這些都會成為引發癲癇發作的一些誘因。癲癇患者還要保持心情平靜，不能大喜大悲。
