2、癲癇發作時，迅速讓病人仰臥，不要墊枕頭，把纏有紗布的壓舌板，墊在上下牙齒間，以防病人自己咬傷舌頭。隨即松開衣領，將病人頭偏向一側，使口腔分泌物自行流出，防止口水誤入氣道，引起吸入性肺炎。同時，還要把病人下頜托起，防止因窩脖使舌頭堵塞氣管。

3、生活上要細心照料，患兒的飲食起居，盡量避免一切誘發，癲癇發作的因素，特別是減少各種感染引起的發熱。當患兒體溫超過38℃時，常易引起熱性驚厥，誘使癲癇發作。而腸道感染、吐泄會使患兒體液大量丟失，水、電解質平衡紊亂，誘發癲癇。當患兒一旦出現高熱時，一定要積極就醫治療，采取降溫措施。

4、應該糾正代謝異常，如低血糖、低血鈉、肝性腦病，低血糖及高滲性狀態，這些病癥均能引起癲癇狀態，需考慮所選用的藥物毒性作用。

5、應采用其他措施維持生命功能，預防和控制并發癥，如物理降溫、給氧、氣管插管及適度換氣，處理腦水腫，預防性能應用抗生素等，以及積極尋找病因，和針對病因治療。
