1、腦外傷：包括開放性腦外傷和閉合性腦外傷，據(jù)統(tǒng)計，癲癇病人大約三分之一有過頭部外傷病史。毫無疑問腦外傷確實是引起癲癇發(fā)病原因之一。病人在腦外傷后發(fā)生癲癇的仍是少數(shù)，腦外傷后大約有5%的病人會出現(xiàn)癲癇發(fā)作，但腦外傷后，早期出現(xiàn)癲癇發(fā)作的病人中，可能為晚期出現(xiàn)癲癇的四分之一。分娩時造成的腦外損傷，是小兒時期的癲癇發(fā)作的重要原因。

2、腦部疾病：包括腦腫瘤、腦血管病、顱內(nèi)感染等，也是誘發(fā)癲癇病發(fā)作的常見因素，尤其是成年以后所謂的晚發(fā)性癲癇，所占比例數(shù)就相對更高些引發(fā)癲癇;另外的一部分幼年患者是由于血管畸形而誘發(fā)癲癇;此外還有一部分患者由于顱內(nèi)細菌性、病毒性寄生的感染，引起腦炎、腦膜炎、蛛網(wǎng)膜炎、腦膿腫等，也可能引發(fā)癲癇病發(fā)病的原因。

3、由全身因素引起的癲癇：比如一氧化碳中毒、低血糖、急慢性腎功能衰竭、高血壓腦病、胰島腺瘤、低血鈣、甲狀腺功能亢進，以及各種全身感染，維生素B6缺乏等等，都是可能引發(fā)癲癇病發(fā)病的原因。
