二、在癲癇發作的治療中，抗癲癇藥物有特殊重要的意義。抗癲癇藥物可通過兩種方式來消除或減輕癲癇發作，一是影響中樞神經元，以防止或減少他們的病理性過渡放電;其二是提高正常腦組織的興奮閾，減弱病灶興奮的擴散，防止癲癇復發。

三、對于明確病因的癲癇，除有效控制發作外要積極治療原發病。

四、對藥物治療無效的難治性癲癇，要根據病情選擇適合自己的治療方法。

五、全身強直陣攣發作持續狀態的治療：積極有效的控制抽搐：處理并發癥：保持呼吸道通暢，利尿脫水減輕腦水腫，糾正酸中毒等。治好癲癇(臨床治療中有少數不能完全治愈，需終生服藥方可像常人一樣。
