家強調，母乳喂養對嬰兒的益處和實際意義將遠遠高于嬰兒暴露在抗癲癇藥下的潛在危險。所以，合理選擇適宜抗癲癇藥控制母親的癲癇發作，與同時堅持母乳喂養之間并不沖突，不必過分擔心對嬰兒的不利影響。

當然，有些問題仍是需要注意的：①避免使用那些哺乳期禁用的抗癲癇藥(如卡馬西平、氨基烯酸及佐尼沙胺)。②抗癲癇藥使用劑量應在常規劑量之內，不可隨意加大劑量。③由于個體差異，有少數服用苯妥英鈉或丙戊酸鈉的母親乳汁中可能藥量稍大，哺乳后可引起嬰兒易激惹、睡眠不良及體重減輕等現象，此時可在不影響母親癲癇治療的情況下適當減小劑量，這有助于減輕嬰兒癥狀，合用維生素B6也有所幫助。
