引發癲癇的病因，還有一種癲癇病癥是隱源性癲癇，這種癲癇癥狀在臨床上也常見，但是在臨床上也查不出來什么病因，但是這個患者一看智力不太好，或者有運動的障礙，或者有神經方面的表現。這類患者神經系統是有疾病的，但是暫時還查不清楚，就稱為隱源性，基本的表現和繼發性的癲癇是一樣的。在兒童癲癇患者中，百分之六十到七十都是屬于原發性的，在腦子里面沒有明顯的病變，沒有結構上的改變，就是一種遺傳下來的容易抽風的素質，這與年齡也是有關聯的，要控制它，還得等到一定的年齡之后。
