小孩癲癇在發(fā)作的時候多是有前驅癥狀和先兆癥狀。前驅癥狀是指在大發(fā)作前的一段時間里，可能是幾個小時，也可能是幾天里，小孩都會出現(xiàn)不適感，在身體上，情緒上等等都會出現(xiàn)異常的舉動。

情緒方面的異常舉動是大家多注意的，如果孩子經(jīng)常的不明原因的感到焦慮、不安、壓抑、驚恐等，恐懼是最常見的一種，錯覺、幻覺、看見了或感到了實際上不存在的東西和場景等，這是小孩癲癇早期癥狀之一。

另外，癲癇的癥狀中還有精神運動性發(fā)作，類似失神小發(fā)作，但是持續(xù)一分鐘以上，這個癥狀多會出現(xiàn)多種幻覺，錯覺，無意識的動作。患者表現(xiàn)為一側口角，眼瞼、手指、足趾或一側面部及肢體末端短陣性抽搐或麻木刺痛。
